On May 18th, 2020, GPHL’s subsidiary Guangzhou Baiyunshan Zhongyi and Qixing Pharmaceutical Company (Zhongyi and Qixing) officially established the ‘Baiyunshan Trendy TCM Institute’. Based on the mechanism of industry-university-research cooperation, the institute will strengthen industrial transformation and future talent training, providing intellectual support and a platform for the development of trendy TCM.

The institute includes six departments, namely the 'research transformation center', 'clinical research center', 'pharmaceutical research center', 'new product research center', 'science and technology management center', and 'pharmacovigilance center'.

At the opening ceremony, GPHL's Chairman Li Chuyuan said that the group will share its achievements in TCM research, spread TCM at the global level, and enable people from all over the world to benefit from TCM's effectiveness in preventing diseases.

Li added that the institute will further explore the potential value of TCM, and build a unique brand of trendy TCM.

Zhou Daihan, chief expert of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, said that TCM is an ancient but advanced science. “We should develop TCM with trendy concepts, innovate TCM through trendy methodology and promote its application with a trendy transformation mode,” Zhou pointed out.

Zhongyi and Qixing has made made significant achievement in developing Trendy TCM over the past few years. Zishen Yutai Pill is one of the star products developed by Zhongyi and Qixing, which has been applied in assisting reproduction, with annual sales figures of 300 million RMB.

Since 2010, Zhongyi and Qixing have led and participated in 23 governmental science and technology projects, including 5 national, 6 provincial and 12 municipal level projects.

GPHL put forward the concept of 'Trendy TCM' as early as 2017.

During the 2017 Fortune Global Forum Chicago Roadshow held by GPHL, the concept of 'Trendy TCM' attracted broad attention.

On June 14th, 2017, the Daily Telegraph published an article entitled 'Refreshing new image for traditional medicine', exploring if TCM is China's answer to global health market needs and GPHL's 'Trendy TCM' will take it further.

GPHL has subsequently demonstrated the concept at a dozen international platforms including the World Economic Forum and APEC forum. Its subsidiary Wanglaoji made its appearance in the UN headquarters and New York Times Square. Wanglaoji herbal tea, Baiyunshan Jinge, Huatuo Zaizao Pills and many other famous products have also been sold in countries around the world.
