GPHL donates 500,000 RMB worth of goods and drugs to Yibin earthquake relief

Thirteen people died and 199 were injured after a 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit Changning, a County of Yibin in southwest China's Sichuan Province at 10:55 p.m. Monday, June 17th, affecting a total of 142,832 people and demolishing 73 houses.

Now more than 80,000 people have been evacuated to safety. A total of 27 temporary shelters have been set up to accommodate those affected. Relief goods sent by the ministry and the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, including tents, beds and quilts, arrived in Changning on June 18th. Most power and roads in the earthquake-struck areas have been restored.

After learning the quake news, GPHL got in touch with related government agencies in Yibin as soon as possible, and prepared goods and drugs for the earthquake-struck areas. On the afternoon of June 18th, GPHL sent the first haul of drugs to the disaster-affected county. On June 19th, GPHL once more donated 500,000 RMB worth of goods and drugs in total to Yibin, with the aim of helping local people get things back to normal more easily.

The donated goods and drugs included Wanglaoji herbal tea, Gan Mao Ling Granules, Qing Kai Ling Granules, Ban Lan Gen Granules, Xia Shuang Ju Granules and Baoji Pills, mainly for preventing vir infection and treating gastrointestinal discomfort.

GPHL has donated over 1 billion RMB to public causes. In addition, it also set up a specific fund of 182.8 million RMB for both the public sector and disaster relief.

Over the years, GPHL has also attached great importance to its mission of poverty alleviation. Last November, GPHL began work on the roxburgh rose project in Bijie, a city in Guizhou, in attempt to help the city lift itself out of poverty. On February 21st this year, the first batch of Wanglaoji roxburgh rose lozenges were produced. The whole process only took 98 days, a record for GPHL in terms of providing support to such poverty-stricken areas.
