Early in 2004, GPHL started the annual campaign of reclaiming expired medicine. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the campaign which was upgraded again. Together with AliHealth, Cainiao Network and several other pharmaceutical enterprises, GPHL launched the ‘National Coalition for Expired Medicine Recycle’, using internet+ technology to promote the development of this public welfare undertaking.

Expired medicine is one of the major sources of environmental pollution. Or even worse, if it obtained by ill-disposed people, it will be a disaster to the society. GPHL has been dedicated to reclaiming expired drugs since 2004, advocating safe medication and proper disposal of expired medicine.

The campaign was initiated by one of GPHL’s enterprises, but now all GPHL’s enterprises are part of it, along with many other partners such as AliHealth and Cainiao Network. It was carried out only at five drugstores in Guangzhou years ago, but now at over 6000 drugstores in more than 200 cities around the country.

It is of note that GPHL achieved a sales revenue of RMB 100 billion in 2017 and has topped the list of China’s Top 100 Pharmaceutical Companies for years in a row. In the meantime, GPHL also spares no effort to carry out public welfare undertakings. It has been assuming more and more social responsibilities by reclaiming expired medicine, donating materials for earthquake relief, and playing a leading role in the poverty alleviation initiative with targeted measures.

Li Chuyuan, the Chairman of GPHL, said that reclaiming expired medicine has been listed as one of GPHL’s strategies and will be carried on in the long term.
