One COVID-19 asymptomatic case has been reported at the Xinyuan Hotel, one of the designated venues for quarantine in Huadu District, Guangzhou. This case was found out during a regular health check for the staff of the quarantine hotel on October 15th.

Based on the results of epidemiological investigations and laboratory tests, experts have made a preliminary judgment that this one is related to imported cases.

The new asymptomatic case is a worker at the Xinyuan Hotel who lived in the staff dormitory of the hotel and tested negative on October 5th.

On October 15th, Huadu once again carried out regular check of the staff in the quarantine hotel. The worker tested positive and has been transferred to the Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital, a hospital designated for treating COVID-19 patients, for medical observation. The case currently shows no fever, cough or other symptoms.

Huadu immediately launched an emergency response and carried out epidemiological investigations the same night. Up to now, all 68 close contacts have been quarantined and received medical observation.

Among them, 66 people tested negative, with 2 people’s results to be released. At present, the comprehensive investigation of the worker's previous activities is still underway, and relevant information will be published in a timely manner.

It is suggested that residents should actively cooperate with relevant departments to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by wearing masks, washing hands and keeping social distance.

If you have a fever and/or other symptoms, it’s advised to take protective measures, try to avoid taking public transportation, and go to a fever clinic in your nearest medical institution as soon as possible.

According to the Health Commission of Guangdong Province, Guangdong reported 2 newly imported confirmed cases (arriving from the Philippines and Syria), and 3 newly imported asymptomatic cases (two arriving from Iran and one from Iraq) in Guangzhou on October 15th. All cases were found at the port of entry or quarantine point, and have received medical observation after entry.

As of 24:00, October 15th, Guangdong had reported 1,875 COVID-19 cases (including 479 imported cases) across the province, with 36 cases currently in hospital.
