The lists of the 2019 China's Top 100 Companies in the Pharmaceutical Industry were released on July 22nd. As a leader in China's healthcare industry, GPHL ranked first on the list of China's Top 100 Traditional Chinese Medicine Companies, claiming the top spot for nine consecutive years.

In 2019, GPHL posted sales revenue of 133 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 15%; and total profit of 5 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 21%. With a leading market position, GPHL moved up 5 spots to rank 160th on the list of China's Top 500 Enterprises. The group was included into the 'double-hundred action' for SOE reform, which means it will be a pilot in the new round of China's SOE reform.

During the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, GPHL made significant contributions to combat the pandemic by making use of traditional Chinese medicines' benefits. For example, GPHL worked with the Guangdong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine to develop two herbal remedies for flu, and over 300,000 bags of such remedies have been sold after they were introduced into the market. Herbal sachets produced by Shennong Caotang Museum were well-received and more than 500,000 have been sold. Banlangen Granules produced by GPHL’s subsidiary Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical were sold at home and abroad for their antiviral properties.

In terms of the 'Trendy TCM' initiative and TCM modernization, GPHL led its 12 time honoured brands and 10 century-old subsidiaries to explore new horizons, making GPHL one of the few Chinese companies that have successfully brought new life to old brands with growth and innovation.

GPHL and Zhong Nanshan's research team used advanced technologies to study traditional Chinese medicines and incorporated the group's idea of 'fashion TCM' which encourages a trendy transformation of traditional Chinese medicines by using advanced technologies, fashion-driven marketing campaigns as well as developing healthy products in line with consumers' needs.
