China's three telecom operators jointly announced the launch of 5G commercial services at the opening ceremony of the PT Expo China, Asia’s leading information and communications technology event, in Beijing on Thursday. Users can connect through a 5G network hot spot, without changing numbers or resigning contracts, only needing to upgrade to a 5G mobile phone.

At the PT Expo China, Chen Zhaoxiong, the Deputy Director of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, announced the official launch of 5G for commercial use. According to him, before the end of this year, China will open up 130 thousand 5G base stations.

What can 5G do now?

According to China Mobile Guangdong, through 5G, users can stream ultra high definition video feeds. They can experience immersive VR learning. In addition, cloud gaming, AR shopping, panorama travelling will create localised 5G experiences.

How much do 5G packages cost per month?

According to China Telecom Guangdong, its packages range from 129 to 299 RMB. Regarding the other two operators, China Mobile and China Unicom, the cost of 5G ranges from 128 to 598 RMB and from 129 to 599 RMB respectively.

Where can we access 5G?
