On October 18th GPHL held the Q319 economic work conference at its headquarters in Guangzhou, aiming to review the group’s performance in Quarter 1, 2 and 3 of 2019 and identify priorities for the next phase. GPHL chairman Li Chuyuan put forward his targets for the next quarter, and GPHL deputy GM Cheng Ning presided over the conference.

1. Honors

▷GPHL has ranked first on the list of China’s Top 100 Pharmaceutical Companies for eight consecutive years.

▷GPHL ranked 160th in the 2019 list of the China Top 500 Enterprises, up 5 places from last year. In the list of 2019 China Top 500 Enterprises in Manufacturing Sector, GPHL ranked 64th, up 4 spots from last year.

▷GPHL was awarded the May 1st Labor Medal.

▷GPHL was included in the List of Top 100 Central State-owned Enterprises and Top 100 Local State-owned Enterprises.

2. Breakthrough in research and talent

▷GPHL appointed Randy Schekman, Member from the National Academy of Sciences, as the chief scientist of both the group and Guangzhou General Pharmaceutical Research Institute Co., Ltd.

▷GPHL is the presenting partner of Fortune Global Tech Forum 2019 and will organize the Forum from November 7th to 8th, 2019.

3. Guangdong-Macao cooperation and Greater Bay Area development

▷GPHL entered into an agreement with GMTCM Park and will set up business in the Park.

▷GPHL plans to set up international headquarters in Macao, expanding its global footprint to be anchored on Macao and Hengqin.

4. Breakthroughs across  multiple projects

5. Achievements in themed education events and Party building

▷Xiang Xiuli, (revolutionary) martyr and former employee of Guangzhou Baiyunshan Hejigong Pharmaceutical, was posthumously honored with the title of “Best Worker”.

▷GPHL held the event for the Memorial Day for Martyrs 2019, commemorating the 60th anniversary of Xiang Xiuli’s sacrifice and 90th anniversary of Yang Yin’s sacrifice.

▷GPHL published the book Great Capital: Deciphering Guangzhou Baiyunshan

▷ Shennong Caotang TCM Culture and Service Exports became one of the National Key Projects for Cultural Exports 2019-2020, and it was one of the only three projects from Guangdong.

6. Achievements in poverty alleviation and philanthropic initiatives implementation

▷GPHL launched Ci Ning Ji products to facilitate Guizhou’s economic growth.

▷Success in carrying out poverty alleviation across three villages in Meizhou, Guangdong earned GPHL the title of Outstanding Contributors for Poverty Alleviation in 2016-2018.

▷GPHL has lead an expired medicine recycling campaign for 16 years.

▷GPHL donated 11 million RMB to set up SYSU-GPHL Wanglaoji Education Fund.
