Guangzhou to have 11 high-speed train stations in the future

According to a recent document released by Guangzhou Municipal Government, Guangzhou is planning to build toward a total of 11 high-speed railway stations and 5 local lines, including the 2nd Guangzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway to connect with surrounding cities.

The 2nd Guangzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway

According to the document, the 2nd Guangzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway is to link Guangzhou East Railway Station to Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport. The document states the operating speed will exceed an incredible 600 km/h, taking just 15 minutes from Guangzhou’s city center to Shenzhen and 20 minutes from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport.

The high-speed railway hubs

According to the plan, Guangzhou is headed toward an era with 11 high-speed railway stations, as follows:

Guangzhou, Guangzhou East, Guangzhou South, Baiyun, Foshan West, Guangzhou North (Huadu District), Nansha (Qingsheng), Xintang and Huangpu Railway Stations.

Furthermore, two more stations are planned for Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Terminal 3 and Zengcheng District in the future.

5 new metro lines to connect Guangzhou to 4 other Guangdong cities

Guangzhou proposed to construct 5 metro lines to connect 4 cities in Peral River Delta, including:

Line 18 (from Nansha District to Zhongshan and Qinggyuan)

Line 22 (from Nansha District to Dongguan)

Line 17 (from Guangzhou’s Science City to Shunde, a district in Foshan).

Line 28 (from Huangpu District the city center of Foshan)

Line 37 (from Sino-Singapore Knowledge City to Guangzhou East Railway Station).
