On June 26th, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 opened in Shanghai.

Ahead of the MWC, Guangdong mobile technology companies such as OPPO, Vivo, Huawei, OnePlus and ZTE bagged over 10 thousand 5G terminals with China Mobile and announced to release 5G smartphones in Q3 of this year. The earliest listing may even appear in July.

Huawei may launch China’s first 5G smartphone

Huawei is at the forefront of 5G development. It has obtained 50 5G commercial contracts and shipped more than 150 thousand base stations worldwide. Around two-thirds of 5G networks outside China now use its equipment.

On the day before the MWC, Huawei announced that its Mate 20X smartphone has obtained China’s first network access license, which means its Mate 20X has become the first 5G smartphone listed in China.

What’s more, with a recorded speed of 1.5Gbps, it will take only 2 seconds to download a 3GB Full HD movie, making Mate 20X the fastest smartphone in the world.

GD device manufacturers ready to launch 5G smartphones in July

Other Guangdong devices manufacturers such as ZTE, OPPO and Vivo are preparing for the 5G launch in Q3.

ZTE was the first to unveil its launch date and its Axon10 Pro 5G is under certification for launch in July. After launch, ZTE’s 5G products will be available on its official website or through its e-commerce channels.

The data shows that the Axon10 Pro 5G, OPPO Reno 5G and Vivo NEX on 5G can achieve maximum speeds of 2Gbps, taking 5 seconds at most to download a 1GB movie.

In terms of price, it is predicted that the first 5G smartphone will come in at around 5,000 RMB or more. With the spread of the 5G network and associated technology, the prices are likely to come down to 2,000 RMB by 2020.
