7th Vietnam-Guangdong Cooperation and Coordination Meeting held in Guangzhou

On June 24th, the 7th Vietnam-Guangdong Cooperation and Coordination Meeting was held in Guangzhou, discussing further cooperation in the fields of production capacity, trade, infrastructure construction, and both the upgrade and development of economic and trade cooperation zones in Guangdong and Vietnam.

Ouyang Weimin, vice governor of Guangdong, Le Hoai Trung, deputy minister of Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs among other relevant individuals from both regions, attended the meeting.

Ouyang Weimin pointed out that all six previous meetings have proved fruitful, and that since their inception in 2008, benefits have been seen from increased cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, agriculture, education, culture and tourism.

“The total value of Guangdong’s import and export with Vietnam amounted to 37.2 billion USD in 2018, accounting for 25% of China’s nationwide total with Vietnam, and represents a year-on-year growth of 34%,” said Ouyang.

Ouyang hopes that the meeting will enhance understanding between both sides and contribute to further advancement in terms of economic and trade cooperation.

Le Hoai Trung said that Vietnam has always particularly valued the close relationship with Guangdong, looking forward to more win-win cooperation in the future.
