On May 11th, the launch ceremony for the second Baiyunshan Jinge Blue Lips Twice-born Project was held in Guangzhou.
This ‘loving care’ activity was jointly initiated by Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical General Factory and Beijing iSEEK PH Hope Center in 2017. The project has reduced the financial strain on more than 300 PH patients.
Pulmonary hypertension is a kind of pulmonary vascular disease that can potentially lead to cardiac and respiratory failure as the blood pressure in the patient’s lungs arteries constantly elevates. Although PH patients look healthy, they have serious difficulty during physical exertion. Daily activities such as climbing stairs can put their bodies under considerable strain, with PH patients’ lips turning blue due to a lack of oxygen(anoxia), hence the moniker ‘Blue Lips’.
Jinge Sildenafil Citrate Tablets are the first domestically produced generic drug in this field, and were first put on the market in October, 2014. Through strict clinical and bioequivalence trials, the product has been proven as effective. With guaranteed curative effects and marketing at a reasonable price, it will facilitate the wide spread of PH treatment.
When hearing the brand name Jinge, many people will think of ‘Chinese Viagra’. This product, launched to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), thanks to its good quality and affordable pricing, has achieved remarkable sales since going on the market. However, most people are not aware that besides erectile dysfunction, it can also be used to treat other diseases including PH.
Pei Zejian, Deputy Director of Grand Southern TCM Business of GPHL
According to Academician Zhong Nanshan, sildenafil citrate has been proven to effectively relieve the symptoms of PH in both research and clinical trials. He pointed out that a 25 ml dose of the tablets would treat the disease, tremendously lowering the cost for patients.
Over recent years, Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical General Factory has been working with the team led by Academician Zhong Nanshan on promoting the clinical application of Jinge.
