Special temple fairs were held on some China Southern Airlines flights on February 18th and 19th, introducing Cantonese culture and Spring Festival customs to over 2000 passengers from all over the world.

This is the second time in a row that China Southern Airlines has held a temple fair on its flights, forming part of the Yuexiu Temple Fair. This year, the temple fair was held on six flights, covering destinations across five continents.

On February 19th (Lantern Festival), on a flight from Guangzhou to Beijing, air hostesses in qipao, a traditional Chinese women’s dress, introduced Spring Festival customs and the history of the Yuexiu Temple Fair to the passengers. They also gave lantern riddles, made festive lanterns and ate Tangyuan, Chinese sweet dumplings, together.

A set of postcards published by the Yuexiu Temple Fair was presented to each passenger, featuring traditional Cantonese customs and heritage, such as the lion dance, Cantonese opera, Kwon-glazed porcelain, Cantonese embroidery and pith painting.

Apart from the temple fairs, China Southern Airlines also launched special themed events during the Spring Festival holiday on its flights to over 40 countries and regions around the world, showcasing traditional Chinese culture and Chinese cuisine to passengers from both home and abroad.
