GPHL and GUCM to boost industry-university-research cooperation

On the afternoon of January 11th, GPHL signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine at its headquarters in Guangzhou, aiming to promote industry-university-research cooperation and the industrialization and modernization of traditional Chinese medicine.

Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GUCM), established in 1956, is one of the four oldest institutes of higher education regarding traditional Chinese medicine in China. It is also a key TCM university supervised by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province. It has comprehensive teaching resources and research capabilities and enjoys great fame and reputation in the field at home and abroad.

As the biggest pharmaceutical enterprise and the largest Chinese patent medicine manufacturing base in China, GPHL’s partnership with GUCM will leverage the respective strengths of both parties in industry-university-research cooperation, which is set to increase the economic and social benefit for both sides.

According to the agreement, GPHL and GUCM will cooperate in the following four aspects: market operation, talent training, achievements in scientific research, and brand co-promotion.

As for market operation, both parties will focus on the transformation and industrialization of TCM achievement.

In terms of talent training, GPHL’s subsidiaries will give priority to GUCM students when offering internship and teaching platforms.

In regards to scientific achievements, GUCM will provide clinical research on Chinese herbs for GPHL and jointly apply for related awards. GPHL will prioritise GUCM’s findings.

The two parties aim to co-found a hospital or healthcare institution, so as to give back to society.
