On August 8th, Dr. Ir. Penny K. Lukito, chairman of the Indonesian National Agency of Drug and Food Control (NADFC) led a delegation to visit Guangzhou Hanfang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of GPHL dedicated to the development of bio-medicine and antineoplastic drugs.

GPHL held a meeting with NADFC to strengthen the organisations’ ties.

Li Hong, the general manager of Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical, and Yuan Cheng, chairman of Hanfang Pharmaceutical, inquired about product preferences in Indonesian pharmaceutical market and stressed that GPHL are active in their mission to ‘go global’. According to Penny K. Lukito, NADFC has been actively boosting investment and business partnerships between Indonesian companies and overseas companies. It also anticipates GPHL can invest in Indonesia and set up both production and sales businesses in the country.

The manufacturing of biomedicines in Indonesia has relied heavily on import to date, as a result of which, prices are relatively high and patients’ costs increase.

Therefore, the chairman of NADFC hopes to introduce GPHL’s technology and capital so that Indonesia could make use of local raw materials and herbs to produce drugs domestically and lower patient’s costs.

In addition, she said NADFC will strive to offer companies more advantageous policies and enhance the partnership between China and Indonesia.
