GPHL partners with Gansu Province to relieve poverty

GPHL and Gansu Province settled a series of cooperative projects on July 5th in Lanzhou City, capital city of Gansu. Zhang Weiwen, mayor of Lanzhou, and Li Chuyuan, Chairman of GPHL, signed a framework agreement to set up the Wanglaoji factory and R&D center (Gansu), and to alleviate local poverty.

Li Chuyuan said Gansu is an important market and hoped the cooperation will stimulate local employment, promote local development and lay a solid ground for further cooperation between Guangdong and Gansu.

Li Rongcan, a member of Standing Committee of CPC Gansu Provincial Committee and Lanzhou Party Chief, Ouyang Weimin, Vice Governor of Guangdong, and major government officials also attended the signing ceremony.

Wanglaoji to set up Lanzhou factory

According to the agreement, Wanglaoji, a GPHL’s subsidiary, will land a series of projects in the Lanzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone, including a large-scaled factory, a R&D center (Gansu) and a cultural project to brand Wanglaoji herbal tea in the northwest region.

Among these projects, the Wanglaoji factory will receive major investment of about 800 million yuan while the R&D center will cooperate with local research institutes, such as Lanzhou University and Gansu University of Chinese Medicine, aiming to develop healthcare product out of local herbs.

Gansu is an important joint along the “Belt and Road” and a pilot province opened to the West. Therefore, Wanglaoji’s factory in Lanzhou is expected to promote exchanges and cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road and expand the brand’s overseas market.

Alleviating poverty

During the ceremony, GPHL also signed cooperative agreements with four less developed counties in Gansu, aiming plant high-quality Chinese medicinal materials in these regions and push forward the local development of traditional Chinese medicine industry.

Moreover, GPHL will join hands with the Chinese Medicinal Materials Exchange of Gansu in fields of purchasing, processing, inspecting and storing Chinese medicinal materials while setting up industrial standards.
