GPHL’s Chairman Li Chuyuan attended Merck’s event in Shanghai

GPHL’s Chairman Li Chuyuan led a delegation to Shanghai on June 20th and 21st, and attended Merck’s 350th anniversary celebration as well as the CPhI China, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical trade show.

On June 20th, the Merck’s event was attended by Dr. Christine Althauser, CG of German consulate in Shanghai, and attracted roughly 400 guests from governments, enterprises and social institutes.

Li Chuyuan, as a representative of Merck’s business partner, and was warmly welcomed by Stefan Oschmann, Merck’s CEO.

Li Chuyuan was invited to a panel discussion titled “Future of Manufacturing”, on which he delivered a speech and discussed the development of pharmaceutical manufacturing with representatives from Merck, WuXi AppTec, Korean Yonsei University and WONDFO.

Respectively established in 1668 and 1600, Merck and GPHL’s Chenliji are two of the world’s oldest pharmaceutical enterprises. Li Chuyuan unveiled that the two companies had been through various conversations to push forward cooperation. “The partnership between the oldest Chinese and western pharmaceutical enterprises will be significant. I believe there will be more chances for us in the future.”

Two of GPHL’s subsidiaries, BaiYunShan General Factory and Guangzhou Hanfang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd, participated in the 18th CPhI China Exhibition held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center on June 21st. Li Chuyuan attended the partnering meeting with overseas representatives and discussed on further cooperation.

During the trip to Shanghai, the delegation also visited Shanghai Pharmaceuticals Holding Co. Ltd. and WuXi App Tec.
